Ok Ok, I'm back... sort of
Today is the first day in a while that I haven't had any guests visiting me, so I guess I can blog now. Here's a recap of the last 2+ weeks!

Heidi's Visit
Heidi (my little sister) visited me for a week during her Spring Break. I took her all around town, and sometimes left her at the Library of Performing Arts when I was in class. She loved it there because she got to copy lots of sheet music! We bought the New York CityPass which got us into the Empire State Building, MoMA, Guggenheim, Sea/Air/Space Museum, Natural History Museum, and on a Circle Line Cruise. We went Serendipity, Cafe Lalo, shopped at H&M, visited the WTC site, ate a Japanese restaurant called Asahi, ate a Cuban restaurant called Cafe Con Leche, and saw two musicals: The Lion King and Man of La Mancha! It was a fun visit, and I'm glad that my lil sis got to come visit me in New York!

Alan & Friends' Visit
Alan and some of our friends from Santa Clara (Diana, Mark, Nick, Diep, and Paula) came to visit New York the day right after Heidi left (last Thursday-Monday(yesterday) ) and we did so much stuff!! They bought the CityPass too, but I didn't buy it again since I had bought it with Heidi. So they went to those sites while I was in class and we met up every day afterwards. Overall we saw three musicals: Beauty & the Beast, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and The Producers. We also went to Serendipity, shopped at H&M, visited the WTC stie, and went to Central Park on Sunday! It was a beautiful sunny day, and we got to watch a 'magic' show that some guy was doing near the fountain. We also checked out a comedy club named "Ha!" and went out at night to clubs called "Lansky" and "46 Grand."

The thing I remember most about their visit is how much food we ate!! We went out to so many restaurants and I'm glad they like eating because we had a great time discovering restaurants!! We went to Dallas BBQ in Times Square, Sharaku Japanese Restaurant in the East Village, Bangkok House on Restaurant Row (46th Street near all the theaters), Ocha Japanese Restaurant on Restaurant Row, Sweet-N-Tart Cafe and Taste Good Malaysian Restaurant in Chinatown! All the food was good and we're spoiled now because all the restaurants on Restaurant Row have a "Prix Fixe" menu that includes a soup and/or salad, appetizer, entree, and dessert for a really good price! Boy did we eat well!

Taping of Regis & Kelly
Alan and I went to a taping of the Live! With Regis & Kelly show yesterday. I sent for tickets a long time ago and just got them for now. The guests were actor Matt Dillon and tennis player Andy Roddick. The studio was smaller than it seems on TV, but it was cool seeing a live taping. Regis and Kelly were really nice, signing autographs during breaks and taking pictures. And even Mandy Moore was there (on the side), since she's going out with Andy Roddick, so Alan was happy. Too bad we didn't win the audience prize, but it was still fun! I taped the show and went through it this morning, and there is one shot that pans the audience and you can see me for about 1 second. hehe.

Weather is warming up
Spring is finally here, and it's starting to warm up (around 70s). We had a weird bit of rain this afternoon, but it passed really quickly. I love better weather!

1 down, 2 to go
Two more projects and I'm home free.... The semester is wrapping up...

An Apple A Day... Usually Two!
I'm sitting here in the library (for like the 6th night out of the past week), eating my golden delicious apple, and I realize that my jaw is probably getting stronger. These apples are nice and crispy and my jaw is getting a work out. I buy this 3 pound bag of apples for $2 at Gristedes and eat at least two a day. I just bring them with me in the morning and eat them during the day. They're really good and sweet. I guess this is my alternative sweet to eating candy. But maybe I'll keep doing this instead of candy, even after Lent! It's healthy!

Too Soon
I woke up this morning to a beautiful sun-shiny day, and since I've been hearing on the news that it's going to warm up (to the 70s on Tuesday!), I decided to wear capris and sandals out today. As I was walking to the subway station though, it was windy, and not as warm as I thought it would be. I guess I jumped the gun. Maybe Tuesday will be better.

Musical Soundtracks
The CDs I've been listening to most recently have been Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me" - a really good CD to listen to while studying or falling asleep. And also, musical soundtracks! I've bought copies (or made copies) of all the musicals I've seen here in New York, and others too! My favorites recently have been Hairspray and Thoroughly Modern Millie. I also have Movin' Out, Rent, Chicago, Mamma Mia, and I just bought Flower Drum Song on amazon.com today, along with the Dawson's Creek Season 1 DVD! Free shipping over $25, baby!

Snow then Rain... what's next?
Is winter ever going to end here? It's already April and still yesterday it snowed, today it's raining, and I think it's going to be cold until next week. Hopefully when Heidi visits next week, the weather will be nicer.

Lazy days
For the past two days, I've been waking up really late. Well, later than I usually wake up. I set my alarm for 8am, and usually I can get up, but this week I kept on snoozing and waking up at 9:30. I almost missed a meeting I had with my advisor yesterday at 10am! I turned off my alarm and the next thing I know, it's 9:55am! So of course, I brush my teeth, change, and have no time to shower! Luckily, she was late too, and so didn't realize that I was late in the first place. Maybe it's the weather that's got me down? Anyone know of a cure? Alan suggested working out, and since I haven't gone to the gym once since I've been in New York, that might be a good idea..

The end of a LOOOOOng week
I'm glad this week is almost over, because I'm going home tonight! yay! I can't wait. I'm going home for Heidi's performance in the musical at SI. But coincidentally, a couple of my other friends are having a birthday thing on Saturday too, and my aunts' birthday celebrations are on Sunday! So it's a good weekend to go back.

Good surprises!
I checked my bank balance and I got both my state and federal refund!! What a welcome surprise to my account... it was dwindling quickly.

Database project
Johanna and I presented our database project to our TA and I think she liked it. It helped that she's doing her PhD thesis on something similar, so she asked us to look at her project and give her feedback and fill out a survey. I think we got a good grade!

4 projects in 4 weeks
When I get back from this weekend, I'm going to have to work my butt off to do all these projects for school. 3 for 3 different classes, and my research project. This weekend though, I'm going to relax and be happy that I'm home.

Have a good weekend!
I will!
