What a weekend!
I had a really busy weekend! It's so fun here in New York when the weather is great and everyone is out and about.... Here's a recap.

• Friday:
  Dinner at Nick & Stef's Steakhouse for restaurant week... yum. Clam chowder for appetizer, Sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, mushrooms for main course, and cheesecake for dessert.
  We also went to Vig Bar for Johanna's roommate's (Paul) birthday.
  
  
• Saturday:
  Watched matinee showing of Life(x)3, a play with Helen Hunt and John Turturro. Then got tickets for the play Rain Dance, with James van der Beek from Dawson's Creek! After the show, I waited for him to come out and talked to him, got a pic, and his autograph. He's tall :) I love meeting famous people! I look sleepy in the pic though, because I moved before the final flash went off... oh well! Look, he put his arm me... hehehe.
  
  Johanna, her roommate Eric, and I went to a karaoke bar place on Avenue A that night too!! Really fun, singing great songs like Dancing Queen, Norah Jones' Come Away With Me and Don't Know Why, J-Lo's Ain't It Funny, my karaoke favorite I Love Rock 'N Roll, and many many more... We got our own room, so it wasn't embarrassing at all! Pretty pricey ($25 an hour!); we were there for 2 hours! Time flies when you karaoke!
  
  
• Sunday:
  Watched matinee showing of La Boheme with Johanna. It was really good... even though I had to read subtitles. It was by Baz Luhrmann, the same guy who did Moulin Rouge, so the sets were amazing... After the show, we headed up to Central Park to watch a Shakespeare on the Run show of Much Ado About Nothing. It was a free show, where the actors act in the park, and move around the park, so the whole audience runs to where the next scene is! It was really fun!
  

Wow! Lots of shows! All 4 shows that I saw this weekend were closing today, so it's good I got to see them before they left...

Back to the Real World
I have my AI final this week, then I go home for the long weekend! Yay!

Summertime!
Wow! It's definitely summer here now. Three straight days of 90 degree weather! It's great... It gets a bit hot and stuffy in the subways though, but it's ok. At least it's not raining!

Norah Jones Concert
Last night I went to the Norah Jones concert. She was awesome. And so was her band. 2 guitarists, a bass player, a drummer, and another lady on vocals. She sang most of the songs on her first album and then a whole bunch of new songs, including one that she had never performed before... I can't wait for her second album.

Flight Woes
My flight coming back in to New York on Monday night was delayed in Dallas for about 2 hours. We got on the plane, waited about 45 minutes until we were told that the plane was out of service, we would have to de-plane, and get onto another one at a gate that was about 30 gates away! But it's ok... as Alan said... better safe than sorry.

Restaurant Week
This and next week are restaurant weeks for a whole bunch of New York restaurants. Prix Fixe menus at $20.03 for a three-course lunch and $30.03 for a dinner. Johanna and I are gonna have dinner on Friday and Monday, and lunch on Tuesday... :)

OUCH!
I sprained my ankle yesterday and it hurts!!! I get up to walk to the kitchen without it hurting.... This sucks. I went to the Student Health Services this morning and the nurse gave me a wrap, an aircast, and ibuprofen. Hopefully it'll get better soon. I have to walk to class, which seems like a really far distance now even though it's about 3 blocks away, and it'll probably take me like 30 minutes to get there... I'm never going to take my feet for granted every again. I'm so used to walking briskly through the streets of New York, in the hustle and bustle of everything. Now I have to hobble and limp. sad.

Broadway Under the Stars
On Monday night, I went to Broadway Under the Stars in Bryant Park. It was a free concert, starring different Broadway actors/actresses singing songs from past musicals!! It didn't start until 8pm, but the lawn area opened at 5:30pm. You should've seen how many people were waiting around the lawn at 5:30pm, waiting for the announcement that the 'lawn was open'. Once that was said, everyone started running with their blankets, trying to get to the front of the lawn near the stage to claim their spot with the blankets. It was like the last scene of the movie Far and Away, with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, when all the settlers rushed to claim their spot of land and put their stake in the ground. New Yorkers are so funny. Check out my pics!

Going home this weekend!
I can't wait to go home this weekend! I'm worried about getting to the airport though, with my sprained ankle. Oh well. And I'm going to a wedding on Saturday. How am I gonna dance?? I guess we'll just have to see... But my mom and Heidi are leaving for San Diego on Friday before I get there, and getting back home on Monday after I leave! So we'll miss each other by a few hours. Darn. Coming 'home' is definitely different when they're not going to be there. But that's ok. Kitchie and Alan will be my 'home'. :)

Random Thoughts: Snoozing
Whoever invented the snooze button deserves an award. I use it every morning... I set my alarm for about 8am, and snooze about 4-5 times until about 9am which is when I finally get up. How many times in the morning do you 'snooze'?

Eye doctor
I had my yearly eye appointment last night. I have the same prescription as a year and a half ago... The doc said I had 20/20 vision with the glasses I currently have. It's good to know that my eyesight hasn't gotten worse. Thing about eye appointments though - I hate it when they ask you to put your chin and press your forehead against that machine that they look through, and open your eyes really wide. The worst is when they blow that puff of air in your eye, without you knowing it and you coil back like someone's trying to hurt you. And it does hurt! Fortunately, no air puffs yesterday, but a lot of drops that made my vision blurry for almost an hour afterwards, but were needed to see if something was wrong. Too much light shining in my eyes yesterday made me see spots all night.

It's getting hot in herrrre....
Yup, it's warming up. Still overcast with clouds, but hot and humid. 70s. I spent the day in Central Park on Tuesday, got Gray's Papaya hot dogs and lounged around in the grass...

Tony Awards!
The Tony Awards were really fun!! Johanna and I got all dressed up, since it was a black-tie event. We bought new formal dresses, took pics like it was prom, and then took a cab over to Radio City Music Hall! If you watched the awards on TV, that was most of the show. What you didn't see was Hugh Jackman being very charming during the commercial breaks, talking to the audience, and even singing a little bit from Oklahoma! (since he was in the London production.) He's so cute. I think he's my new favorite. I have to go see X-2 now, since I just saw X-Men recently on DVD!

Rain Rain Go Away
Back in New York and it's still not summer yet. What is going on here???

My Little sister graduated!
Heidi graduated from SI last Saturday! I can't believe she's all grown up now... She's going to UC San Diego for college, in bioengineering. She's such a smart one. She's won so many scholarships already!! I'm very proud of her. :)

Tony Awards
Johanna and I decided to go to the Tony Awards after seeing some cheap tickets on ebay. Hugh Jackman is hosting! And there will be a whole lot of stars there. Check it out! It's a black-tie event, and since I have no formal dresses here, I'm going to have to look for one really soon! And shoes too! It should be fun...
