Whew! I passed!
I took my oral examination this morning, and I'm happy to say that I passed! That means I can graduate after I finish my class and my research report. Yay me! I've been studying all week, all day (which is why I haven't been blogging... good excuse, right?) I was so nervous, but it went well.

Going home again!
I'm glad to be going home tomorrow for the weekend (until Tuesday). Lots of things going on... my Lola's birthday, Abby's wedding shower, and our annual BBQ! Should be fun. I hope the weather is better over in the bay than it is here. It has been raining!

Shooting at city hall!
It's all over the news right this minute. There was a shooting in City Hall, and two people were shot. Still looking for the shooter...

Home stretch
I'm in the home stretch, the last month in New York! I've already started packing some stuff and am bringing home a balikbayan box full of stuff home with me tomorrow.

Rollerblading!
Yesterday, Johanna, Eric, and I went rollerblading in Riverside Park near the water (Hudson River). It was a great day to go blading, sunny but not too hot or humid, with a nice breeze. I haven't bladed in a while, but I think I got the hang of it after a couple of minutes. More pics!

Shakespeare in Central Park - Henry V
If you didn't know, I am a huge Shakespeare fan, so when there are Shakespeare plays in the park (or on stage), I'm totally there! Every summer, a free Shakespeare production is put on in Central Park. This year, it was Henry the Fifth. It was an outdoor stage/theater, and it was a beautiful night! The lead was Liev Schreiber (he was in Kate & Leopold - the guy who went back in time, and also in the Scream movies) and he was really good. Another famous name in show was Bronson Pinchot (from Perfect Strangers - you know... Cousin Balky). Great production. Great play. Shakespeare was a genius.

More famous people -- I love New York! hehe
After I went to church yesterday, I walked outside and saw a huge crowd of people and cameras all around... I knew something was going on, so I stopped by to check it out. Turns out that Jennifer Garner was shooting a commercial in front of Rockefeller Plaza... I crossed the street to where she was and stood in the background. The crew was telling everyone not to look at the cameras, act natural, and not to take any flash photos... So of course, me with my camera everywhere I go, I took pictures of her (no flash of course). They did a couple of takes and then she got into this black SUV and drove off. Hmm... I wonder if I'm in the background of any of those shots... :)

De La Soul!
Johanna, Eric, and I went to the free Summerstage De La Soul concert in Central Park today! It was really fun and really hot. The two of them got in line early, and since I was lagging, taking my time going to the library to pick up the next Harry Potter book (more about that later) and getting Gray's Papaya hot dogs, I got there late and there was a really long line. I think I was in line for an hour, but I finally got in. They saved us spots right in front near the stage. Check out the pics!

Hooked on Harry Potter!
I finally started the Harry Potterseries about a week ago, and I can't stop reading! I finished the second book last night and this morning, so I went to the library to pick the third book. Crazy huh? I never really read books for fun before, but ever since I've been here, I've read The Lord of the Rings trilogy (and The Hobbit), The Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God's Wife, The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing, Harry Potter 1 and 2, and working on 3. I think I read a lot on the subway, and since the Harry Potter books are so fun to read, I read before I sleep and when I wake up! And today, I saw two other people on the subway reading the books. One was reading the 4th one and another was reading the new one... Anyone out there want to chat about the books? Wait til I'm done with the last one and we'll discuss... (Kitchie) :) BTW, I also rented the movies.... the first one was pretty good and I'm gonna get the second one this week.

From My Hometown
I went to see an off-Broadway musical called From My Hometown today, which was about 3 guys who come to New York and try out to play at the Apollo. It was very entertaining... lots of old R&B songs like Have You Seen Her, Dock of the Bay, What a Wonderful World, Oh Girl, and Ooh Child. It was a really fun show, with audience participation! It was kinda like Mamma Mia but with old R&B songs instead of Abba songs, with the songs going along with the story.

A Rude Awakening
Early this morning, I was having a weird dream that I had a job interview at a company in Oakland, but ended up in a small church on-site saying a prayer, when I heard some sort of loud drilling noise. I woke up to find out that the drilling was actually right outside my window, since repairs are being done to the building. Really annoying and loud drilling at 8:30am. And really weird seeing people on this platform going up and down the side of the building and passing me on the 12th floor. I keep my shades closed for now, so they can't see inside. It's been going on for about a week, but I guess I'll just have to bear it.

Broadway in Bryant Park and NY Philharmonic in Central Park
Today's the first show of Broadway in Bryant Park at lunchtime. I'm gonna go early to check it out... I haven't seen a musical in a while; maybe I'll do that this week. And there's a free show at the Great Lawn in Central Park tonight with the New York Philharmonic. Complete with fireworks at the end and everything. Should be fun!

Peeling!
On Sunday, we went to Coyote Point for our friend Kevin's birthday BBQ. It was cold at first, but it warmed up and became really sunny. We played softball and volleyball all day, and I didn't notice that my face was getting burned. Not until I got home did I see that my face was all read red, and not until yesterday did I start peeling really badly. It sucks.

Have a great holiday weekend! I'm flying home in a couple hours... yay! My AI final was last night and I'm officially done with that class... Have a good holiday weekend! Be safe :)
